travel spotlight sizedClub soccer is the most competitive type of soccer that is offered by the Northwestern Soccer. Our Club Program plays as Northwestern Lehigh Soccer Club (NLSC) providing a more competitive training and playing environment and as such, requires a greater commitment of time, energy and money from both the player and parents. Travel soccer is designed for players (and their families) interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level through hard work and a commitment to increased levels of soccer training and competition. Travel soccer requires playing games outside the club in a local league called the Lehigh Valley Youth Soccer League ( Home matches are played on Northwestern soccer fields and teams travel to away matches against other clubs in the Eastern Pennsylvania area. Depending on the interests of the parents, coaches, and players there can also be travel to local, regional or out-of-state tournaments.

NLSC forms new travel teams in the spring of each year through open tryouts. Players are accepted to their team for a one year (12 month) commitment with the travel team. Teams are formed beginning at U9 and are at every age group which warrants a team. Tryouts are held at the end of the spring season (end of May/beginning of June) for the following fall-spring soccer year. Although most teams play both fall and spring seasons, the fall season is considered the “primary season”. Players not selected by a competitive team are placed on a recreational team. Practices for travel teams are between 2 and 4 times per week with games on the weekends.
